Cereals

Cereals:

Organic:

Back to Nature:
1. Organic Cherry Vanilla Granola: Tasty (1/2 cup: 200 calories (ouch!): 4g fat: .5g sat; 38g carbs: 5g fiber, 12g sugar; 5g protein; 8% Iron; 15% Phosphorus & Magnesium; 8% Zinc)

Barbara's Bakery (organic, right?)
1. Apple Cinnamon O's: Yummy

-Whole Wheat Biscuits:
1. Cinnamon Harvest: Really tasty! Also, not only is it organic, but there are only four ingredients: organic whole grain wheat, organic evaporated cane juice, organic cinnamon, and natural cinnamon flavor (Nut. Info.)

Nature's Path:

1. Blueberry Cinnamon - Yumdiddly!  My only gripe is that there really weren't very many blueberries :[ (Nut. Info.)
2.Smart Bran w/ Psyllium & Oat Bran: Good (May no longer be available)
-Flax Plus
1.Maple Pecan Crunch: Yummy (Nut. Info.)
-EnviroKidz:

1. Peanut Butter Panda Puffs: Pretty tasty!  Nice little peanut butter flavor, though it could've been a bit stronger.  You do have to do that thing where you make sure to shuffle all the cereal away from the front roof of your mouth so you don't tear it up, but I got really good at that really fast.  Gluten free, in case you care. (Nut. Info.)

Semi-organic:

Kashi:
1. Harvest Sunshine/Honey Sunshine: Tasty, light puffy crisps akin in taste to a mixture of kix and pops (Nut. Info.)

-Granola:
1. Mountain Medley: Very nice (Nut. Info.)
2. Orchard Spice Granola: Very good Update: I'm pretty sure this is the same as the one they're now calling Apple Orchard. (Nut. info. if so)
-Heart to Heart:
1. Oat Flakes & Wild Blueberry Clusters: Pretty good (Nut. Info.)

Non-organic:

1. Banana But: Yummy! Good banana chips (Nut. Info.)

2. Honey Clusters: Sooo good
3. Original: Tastes pretty good, esp. mixed with something else. A great low-cal snack, at any rate (1/2 cup: 60 calories: >1g fat; 25g carbs: 14g fiber, 0g sugar; 2g protein; 10%VitC, Calcium, Phosphorus & Magnesium; 25%Iron, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, VB6, Folic Acid, VB12 & Zinc)

-Good Friends:
1. Original: I found this box in my parent's cupboard today
(I'm visiting them in Houston for a few days), and my second thought was "...unless Kashi is doing some sort of retro promotional gimmick"*. My first thought of course was, "Oh dear lord how old is this cereal?" This does not seem to be the high fiber promotion of nowadays, promoted as a "good carb" to help us lose weight. This cereal is being marketed to people in an old folks' home, maybe someone's mom and someone else's dad have become good friends (maybe more?), and maybe not, but they sure as hell both need help keepin' regular.

Anyway the expiration date was illegible. I think cereal boxes should all have copyright years on them.

Now, unfortunately, the only milk my parent's have in their house, despite a fridge/freezer that looks like this ->, was a frozen bottle of milk from the deep freezer, where it had been for 1-8 weeks, out in the garage. My mother had, thoughtfully, taken it and put it in the fridge overnight to thaw, but it was still frozen. In lieu of milk, my mother gave me one of those liquid yogurt shots, pomegranate berry. Blech. I tasted the cereal alone so I could give it a fair rating: fine, tastes like fiber. (Nut. Info.)

*Which, it seems, is actually the case.

Heart to Heart:
1. Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal: Yums! Basically more healthful cheerios with some cinnamon and wholesome sweetness. (Nut. Info.)

Post:
-Trail Mix Crunch:
1. Cranberry Vanilla: Yummy! Especially when you get some milk and don't have to use yogurt anymore! Very densely caloric though (Nut. Info.)

Kellogg's:

-Special K:
1. Red Berries: Pretty good (Nut. Info.)
2. Cinnamon Pecan: Yummy, with just the right amount of crunch. This one's a keeper. (Nut. Info.)

1. Honey Flax Flakes: Delicious! Maybe the best overall cereal I've ever had. Tastes delightful, has a good texture (like Wheaties), is nutritious, and has a short list of ingredients without the added bull shit (Nut. Info.)

1. Flax Flakes: Good stuff, tastes like Wheaties really, and way more healthful (Nut. Info.)

South Beach:
1. Toasted Wheat w/ Cinnamon: Good (This product may no longer exist.)
2. Strawberry Harvest Crunch: Pretty good (Nut. Info.)

Trader Joe's:
-Clusters:
1. Super Nutty Toffee: Delicious, yummy yumness.  The calories per cup are more than I typically go for, but it's so good and also nutritious!  (Nut. Info.)
-Shredded Wheats:
1. Frosted Maple & Brown Sugar: Delicious! (Nut. Info.)

Quaker:
1. Natural Granola (non-organic, right?): Oats, Honey & Raisins: Really yummy
